We are humans. We tell stories. These stories help us relate to one another and are meant to spark a response from the audiences we share them with.

How does emerging technology affect the way we tell stories? In order to best utilize a new technology or tool, you must understand how it can be useful in telling your story.

I’ve been with EM-Media for three years. Here at our agency, we are always learning how to implement new tools to tell a business’s story, specifically within video production. Some of the many emerging tools in our industry include aerial drones, virtual reality cameras, new camera stabilizers, and improved image quality.

Continuing to adapt and learn can be both exciting and challenging, but the ultimate goal is to better captivate an audience to see the value in a product or service. Exploring this new technology allows us to understand what tools work best to grab attention and convert a viewer into a customer.

But keep in mind: technology is not the only thing that matters in getting an audience interested in your story. The story itself has to be good, and a good story has to be told well to make an impact. That’s why effective marketing is essential. A great way to make a story memorable and impactful is to share a perspective that others may not have considered or might not expect.

The developing technologies I’ve written about here are tools that allow us to share those perspectives more and more easily. For example, in the past, a video could require an extremely expensive budget to get aerial video from a helicopter, whereas, now aerial video can be shot by just one person who both pilots the aircraft and controls the camera.

My team and I are professional storytellers—we do this for a living. A huge part of our job is to learn as much as we can about these new technologies and invest in the best ones, then use them to tell your story to those who need to hear it.

If you’d like to talk more about this concept, or just want to pick our brains about these new technological trends, don’t hesitate to reach out! We’d love to hear from you.
